Oh my! The whole guilt thing is kicking in about my pathetic blogging schedule of late. The truth is my father has been in hospital, David is away, I have been helping Paris organise a trip to Tanzania, I can’t sit for long because of my bad back, I’ve been going to pilates 4 times a week and most of all I’m slack and undisciplined. I’ve just come across an online art project by Cory Arcangel called Sorry I Haven’t Posted, which re-posts posts of people apologising for not posting on their blog.
So, I’m NOT sorry for being erratic with my blog posts and I hope you have a wonderful weekend! I’m planning to make my very favourite Donna Hay recipe – Basic and Speedy Brownies. They’re truly the best, just how a brownie should be, nice and fudgy in the centre and crunchy on top.
So my friends, I might see you on Monday!
The unexpected silence on my blog has been as much a surprise to you as it has been to me! I have plenty to say, that has not been the problem, but I have been pretty much confined to lying flat on my back or standing!
Before we went to Fiji I did something to my back doing yoga. Yeah I know, yoga! I think I got a bit zealous and pushed things just a little too hard. Anyway after 6 weeks of painful sleep I had an MRI. It seems that there’s been a little degeneration happening in my lower back and a slight disc bulge (explains the pins and needles in my heel). David and I have been quite the invalided pair! I’m tolerating sitting a little now, so I thought I better do some explaining!
This photo is not part of the 30 Day Photo Challenge. I have decided to jump on board and have some fun with Holly Becker’s Stripe Mania Party (Bloggers Wearing Stripes).
Paris suggested a fun idea this afternoon for the Stripe Mania Party; of taking a mug shot of me in jailbird stripes, a prison number and all. If the reaction I get to my latest passport photo is anything to go by, you all would be having a laugh at my expense. Let’s say, the mugshot look is not my best . How fortuitous that I was wearing what I was today and that I was short on time.
I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. It’s the Queen’s Birthday long weekend here in Oz, so we are enjoying a bit of extra R&R.

I have never really been a very spontaneous person. I like to plan, goal set, make lists, you know the type. Actually the night I met my husband I wrote in my diary that I was going to marry him! Yep that’s me! But tonight I’ve decided out of the blue that it’s time for me To Take A Break! I’m taking my shoes off for a few weeks… Gonna live dangerously! (Yeah Right!!!). I’m going to take up yoga and bake more cakes…
I’ll be back in a month.
We are celebrating a first birthday in our family in just over a week…Where My Heart Is is turning one! It has been almost 12 months since my first post. Woo-Hoo, Yippee, Hooray!!! I sound excited because early on I read very discouraging statistics. Most bloggers quit before a year is up. I found this shocking, hard to believe… well that was until I had been blogging for a few months! I won’t lie there have been times when I thought “am I talking to myself… is anyone listening!?!” It can be a very lonely place in the beginning. But like all new things, one has to have patience. It’s so wonderful to have such lovely readers now. You are all so encouraging and leave lovely comments. Thanks a bunch♥.
In anticipation of The Big Day I thought it would be fun to revisit 5 of my earlier posts. So off you go, have a wander…
I have to admit I got a bit carried away. I made quite a few detours along the way. Reminiscing is a lot of fun.
BTW Thank you for all your great decorating advice this week. The bedroom has the most votes so far but it’s pretty close.
for my sister’s beautiful Natuzzi leather sofa. For more information head on over to My Pink Door.
Boy oh boy, what a week I have had! I hadn’t planned a traumatic trip to emergency with Maddie (all is fine thank goodness) and a mini emotional crisis for Paris over her biology assignment. That time was scheduled for finishing this weeks Global Roaming post. I know that family come first but when all my blogging plans go out the window again, I feel so guilty…I feel that that I am really letting you all down.
This is suppose to be fun, right? So I need to lighten up and learn to go with the flow. According to my sister I need to meditate and do yoga
Anyway, I hope you are having a great week-end!

My daughter asked me last night when I was going to do my next post, no pressure or anything! It’s not that I have forgotten to post about “The Caves”, it’s just that when you have been to somewhere soooo divine – it hard to choose which photos to post!
On Saturday afternoon a group of Brisbane/ Gold Coast Bloggers got together for a meet up. We are all connected by the fact that we are students doing the Blogging Your Way eCourse that Holly Becker of Decor8 and Leslie Shewring of A Creative Mint co-teach. I have to stop here and give the course a big plug as it has far exceeded my expectations. If you have a blog or are thinking about starting one, I would find out when the next course is happening!
Now back to the meet up, it felt a bit like a blind date (not that I have every been on one). How were we going to recognise each other? Would I know what to say? What should I wear?
We did find each other without too much trouble and it was a very enjoyable afternoon. It was great to meet up with like-minded creative ladies. I have listed their blogs below so you can check out my local talent!
Easy Peasy Organic, Olive and Joy, A Cup of Kitsch, Teamkitten the blog, curiouser and curiouser, kimino reincarnate, My Pink Door (Jenny couldn’t make it as she was out of town), August Empress (blog not launched yet), Idle Notions (currently inactive but about to relaunch) and Inspiring Days (blog not launched yet).
I had grandiose ideas about blogging regularly while I was overseas. The problem was that although I didn’t get the time to post regularly, I did think constantly about it and so felt guilty the whole time. So I have now vowed that when I go away I will give myself permission to have an actual blogging holiday too!
Anyway…Here are the last of the photos that I will share with you from Madrid.
It was so hot that these girls had taken their tops off.
To my new blog…
Right now my heart is with French Champagne! I am sitting here with a glass of this bubbly and my high-tech (almost 75 year old) mother, on my left, who is setting up this blog for me. On my right is my 18 year old daughter dictating witty and pithy comments for my first post. All of which I am ignoring.
I will keep this inaugural entry brief as I need to go and help cook our Easter dinner of Slow Cooked Lamb, Steamed Baby Potatoes, Roast Pumpkin Wedges with Almonds, Goats Cheese and Tahini Dressing (my new favourite dish) with Steamed Green Beans. This will be followed by my American mother’s famous Black Bottom Pie. I will post recipes when I learn how!
I hope you are having a wonderful Easter too.
